The Chandler recently wrapped up a hotel-wide redesign that ditched its Art Deco–inspired interior in favor of a more traditional aesthetic with modern touches. A dramatic giraffelike lamp made of mangrove wood from Costa Rica illuminates a corner of the lobby, while the 1905 marble-and-mahogany staircase has been impeccably restored. The revamp also introduced a fitness center and a library-lounge with a fireplace and overstuffed armchairs where guests can unwind. At about 225 square feet, most “Superior Queen” rooms are a tight squeeze.
