Though both sexes are welcome at this newly renovated Russian enclave, Okeanos is a man’s world. Gents make up the vast majority of clients, who flock here for banya, the ritual of spending extended time inside one of the two frosted-glass–walled, 170-degree steam saunas, alternated with ice-cold showers (half day $50, full day $90; free with any service of $120 or more). A traditional platza treatment ($50), in which technicians beat the crap out of your sauna-steamed skin with bundles of birch leaves, separate the men from the boys. Athletic types could benefit from an equally vigorous Russian sports massage (one hour $145, 90 minutes $210), during which intense heat and a technician’s swift, deep movements stretch out tight muscles. But if you’re more interested in softening your skin than your muscles, perhaps the exfoliating Black Sea scrub ($120), which uses essential oils and salts from the service’s namesake body of water to strip off dead skin cells, is more your speed.
