Passing the front desk and entering into the inner sanctum of Haven Spa completely removes you from the chaos on Mercer Street. The calm and luxurious waiting room/lounge, supplied with drinks and snacks, prepares you for the relaxing services ahead. Once out of your clothes and in a supplied robe and slippers, you are escorted to your service, which will undoubtedly be top-tier.
Both times I've been to Haven, which first opened in 1998, I've been impressed by the spa's commitment to providing the most helpful service for each customer. Even if you set up a specific treatment—I recently tried the new "Tock Tick" facial that's meant to strengthen and regenerate the skin—the staff consults with you before beginning to find out what your concerns are and what you'd like to focus on. Then, with your input, they tailor the service to make sure you're getting out of it what you need. In my case, my skin was in extra need of soothing so my esthetician focused more on that than what was initially set out for me. My face appeared more plump than when I arrived, so I was impressed with the outcome.
Additionally, I really enjoy Haven's innovative spirit—you can always find a new service to try here. The first I ever tried was the Molten Chocolate Body Scrub for Valentine's Day 2020, where I was completely covered in, yes, chocolate. Currently, new services you can enjoy, including the Tock Tick, are the Younger Longer (Soothe and restore sensitive skin with this specialized collagen recovery facial treatment); The Jock (an athletic recovery massage with therapeutic cupping); The Change (a massage for the peri/postmenopausal that stimulates acupressure points to help the brain and body regulate hormone production); and the Hydrabooty Deluxe, (a facial but for your booty that addresses ingrowns, butt acne and hydration).
But you don't need to get fancy—Haven is specialized in traditional body treatments, waxing, electrolysis and laser hair removal, skincare, hand and foot care, massage - solo and couples, express treatments and it has steam rooms within its men’s and women’s locker rooms.
Owned by Gabrielle Ophals and Audra Senkus from Queens, Haven is truly a welcoming and cozy spa that'll make you feel like you matter.
