Dorit Baxter New York Day Spa

Advertising

Time Out says

Inspired by the Israeli beauty industry and its heavy reliance on products containing ingredients from the Dead Sea, Tel Aviv native Dorit Baxter opened her eponymous New York spa in 1980. Though standards like manicures ($18), pedicures ($39) and waxing ($12–$85) are available, the real draw is the treatments that employ the natural minerals and oils found in Israel’s most famous body of water. Baxter’s popular Dead Sea Salt Mineral Body Scrub (30 minutes, $65) combines mineral-rich salt with aromatherapy oils, which are massaged into the body using long strokes to maximize exfoliation and enhance circulation. Those with epidermis issues like eczema and psoriasis will want to book a mud treatment (one hour, $125), which uses healing mud excavated from the Dead Sea. Don’t forget to pick up the same jojoba moisturizers ($45), soy serums ($59), papaya toners ($20) and cleansers ($20) from Israeli brand Dinur, which are used in the spa’s treatments.
