Cassoulet, the cherished but controversial casserole dish native to the south of France, is the focus of this 15-chef smackdown sponsored by acclaimed meat purveyor D’Artagnan. In its native country, every part of the iconic peasant dish is a point of fierce contention, from the correct variety of bean to the cut of pork sausage. Here, Gotham chefs including Justin Smillie (Upland), Daniel Eddy (Rebelle) and Suzanne Cupps (Untitled) wage their own live cassoulet cook-off to win over the hearts of ticket holders and Francophile judges in categories such as Most Authentic and Most Daring, as well as to raise funds for nonprofit Action Against Hunger, which combats child malnourishment internationally. Wash down the 15 creations with endless pours of French Gascony wines before casting your ballot for the Audience Choice Award.
