Private Fears in Public Places

This adaptation of Alan Ayckbourn's play about six Parisians whose lives intersect isn't top-notch Resnais, but its deft touch, gliding camera movements and elegant set pieces proved that no one should write off the French moviemaker's ongoing late-period films entirely.
