Cotton Comes to Harlem

Ossie Davis is best known as a terrific actor (Do the Right Thing, Joe Versus the Volcano), but he also directed one of the better flicks of the blaxploitation era, adapted from Chester Himes’s novel. Any movie with characters named Gravedigger and Coffin Ed has something going for it.
