Rainer Werner Fassbinder double feature number two: Beware is his stab at the movie-about-a-movie genre and alternates tiresomely between extreme cattiness and self-absorption. Satan's Brew is something of a transitional film for Fassbinder, as this tale of an unrepentant plagiarist (the insane Kurt Raab) finds the director shifting gears from woozy victimization to giddy masochism.
