Time Out says

At You Should Be Dancing (YSBD), everyone is encouraged to put their best foot forward on the dance floor. Some of their most popular classes are for swing dancing, so the Swing Beginner class is an ideal choice for anyone wanting to learn more about this upbeat style of dance. This hour-long session covers basic swing steps and teaches students how to move to this unique style of music. Another beginner-friendly program at YSBD is the Argentine Tango Fundamentals class. All beginner classes are progressive and offered once per week, so new students are encouraged to attend the first or second session of each month to ensure they don’t miss too much information; drop-ins after the second session are not permitted.

While most courses at YSBD don’t require you to have a partner, there are some experiences that are perfect for a couple looking to spice up their typical date night. YSBD offers a Dance Basics Crash Course that teaches Tango, Waltz, and Cha-Cha. Other couples-oriented classes include a Latin Dance Experience and an Argentine Tango Experience. Additionally, YSBD offers a Stretching and Strengthening course that is open to dancers of all backgrounds. This class focuses on the importance of balance training, which you can practice at home to increase flexibility and build muscle.

YSBD has been providing high-quality dance instruction in New York since 1999. They strive to provide a welcoming, friendly environment where dancers of all experience levels can come to enjoy themselves and learn new techniques. In addition to their nighttime public classes, YSBD is open during the day for private lessons. They also offer wedding dance lessons, and the space is available to rent for parties and other events.

Former students who have attended classes at YSBD are mostly happy with their experience and would recommend their classes to others. Many students felt that the classes, though a little fast-paced for total beginners, were a lot of fun and highly informative. Participants also enjoyed the opportunity to meet other dancers and learn more about different cultures depending on the style of dance they were learning. Former students also report that the instructors are clearly experienced and enjoy sharing their passion for dance with others.
