Brown and his Brooklyn troupe explore African-American themes in their return to the Joyce, with a mixed bill that includes the world premiere of Den of Dreams, performed by Brown with Arcell Cabuag; March (1995), set to a speech by Martin Luther King Jr.; and Come Ye (2002), inspired by the life and work of Nina Simone. The opening-night performance (Tue 6) concludes with 1998's Upside Down; subsequent shows end with the company premiere of Dancing Spirit, a tribute to Judith Jamison originally created for Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.
