Time Out says

With locations in Brooklyn, Bronx, Manhattan, and Queens, Nieves Latin Dance Studio is one of the most prominent destinations to learn these popular dance moves in the New York area. This school teaches the most prominent styles of Latin dance, including Salsa and Bachata. Their beginner-level classes are perfect for those with no experience. The Salsa and Bachata 101 courses teach basic steps and help students get comfortable moving their bodies to unique Caribbean and South American rhythms. These courses cover footwork, partner work, spins, and will help you nail the suave Latin attitude.

If you’re a more experienced Latin dancer, Nieves offers a handful of intermediate and advanced classes to help you continue improving your skills.  In the intermediate Level 4 Salsa class, students will spend 90 minutes learning more complex salsa steps together. The first portion of the class covers footwork, and the remaining time is spent on partner work. Like all Nieves classes, a partner is not required to attend; for the partner section, students rotate dancing with each other.

Professional dance instructor Wil Nieves founded his studio to help beginner dancers find a community and gain confidence in their abilities. No matter your level of experience, Wil believes that everyone can benefit from the positive energy and movement of Latin dancing. While the school primarily caters to adult dancers, it also offers a selection of children’s dance classes. These include Latin dance, ballet, hip-hop, and belly dancing.

Former students of Nieves Latin Dance Studio largely report enjoying themselves in the studio. It is described as more of a community or a family, with many students becoming members so they can attend multiple classes every month. The instructors are described as passionate and helpful, with their love of dance coming through in each class. They clearly care about their students, and they take their time with instructions to make beginners feel comfortable.
