Founded by modern dance titan José Limón in 1946, Limón Dance Company continues under the guidance of new artistic director Dante Puleio. In its two-week stint at the Joyce, the troupe celebrates its 75th anniversary Season with a pair of bills that include two world premieres and three newly reconstructed Limón works. Program A (April 19–24) pairs the Límon's classics Psalm and Chaconne with Doris Humphrey’s Air for the G String (1942) and a new work, Only One Will Rise, by Burkina Faso’s Olivier Tarpaga. Program B (April 26–May 1) juxtaposes Limón's early solo Danzas Mexicans with Migrant Mother, a new work by Mexico's Raúl Taméz, and also includes the company premiere of Limón’s final work, Waldstein Sonata (1971).
