James Sewell Ballet: Titicut Follies—The Ballet

Sewell's world-premiere ballet is inspired by Frederick Wiseman's controversial 1967 documentary about living conditions in a Massachusetts prison for the criminally insane. (The film was banned until 1991, ostensibly out of concern for the privacy of its subjects.) The original score is by longtime Saturday Night Live bandleader Lenny Pickett.
