Emily Johnson: Then a Cunning Voice and A Night We Spend Gazing at Stars

Johnson's massive communal happening at Randall's Island Park begins at dusk and continues past sunrise the next morning, incorporating dance, song, storytelling, quiltmaking and conversation. The durational event, directed by Ain Gordon, is a collaboration with performers Tania Isaac and Georgia Lucas (who is 12 years old), and features 4,000 square feet of hand-sewn quilts designed by Maggie Thompson. Tickets must be purchased in advance, and include dinner, breakfast and snacks.
