Eiko Otake: Slow Turn

Eiko Otake performs Short Turn, which centers on a monologue that details her perfornal memories of the 9/11 attacks 20 years ago. Audience members listen via headphones, and clarinetist David Krakauer performs a pair of original short pieces to bookend the piece. Otake performs the outdoor work twice on September 11—for sunrise at 7am and before sunset at 6pm—at Belvedere Plaza in Battery Park City, just west of where the Twin Towers once stood. The event is presented in partnership with NYU Skirball, Battery Park City Authority and Lower Manhattan Cultural Council; performances are free but reservations are strongly recommended.
