If we can trust anyone to uphold Merce Cunningham's choreographic legacy, it's Robert Swinston. Now the artistic director of the French-based Compagnie CNDC-Angers—after 31 years dancing for and assisting the Cunningham company—Swinston offers the troupe's New York debut with Event. Featuring eight dancers in meticulously assembled and staged excerpts from Cunningham's choreography from 1965 through 1990, Event includes scene design by Jackie Matisse and live music by John King and Gelsey Bell.
