On Wednesday, July 21, as the final stop on its 2021 summer bus tour of eight cities, the venerable American Ballet Theatre is performing a pair of open-air shows (at 6:30pm and 8pm) at Rockefeller Center, where the company made its debut back in 1940.
More than 20 dancers will perform a mixed bill on a custom-built square stage on Rockefeller Center's South Plaz, between 48th and 49th Streets and Fifth and Sixth Avenues. The scheduled lineup includes James Whiteside’s New American Romance, Jessica Lang’s Let Me Sing Forevermore, Darrell Grand Moultrie’s Indestructible Light and an excerpt from Alexei Ratmansky’s Seven Sonatas.
Tickets to the seated performance are free but you have to register for them; in the event of rain, the performances will be moved to Thursday, July 22.
