Who likes acid? Or should we ask, who doesn’t like acid? (It should be noted we’re talking about acid house here, not lysergic acid diethylamide—though we’re sure that has a few fans among TONY’s readership as well.) Santos Party House will be positively dripping in acid—again, the music kind, not LSD—when a crew of the sound’s mid-’80s originators, DJ Pierre and his compadres from the seminal Chicago production unit Phuture—take control of the club on Friday, October 5. In the meantime, here’s a punchy little mix from Pierre, which not only delivers a brief history of acid, but squeezes in a bit of disco and soul (including a mix of Al Green’s “Love and Happiness”), along with a bit of squelchy business as well.
All Night Rong: We Are Phuture is at Santos Party House Friday, October 5.
