Now, at 60, the composer, saxophonist, bandleader and community builder John Zorn seems to have his sights set on taking over the entire city. The two latest installments in his birthday series illuminate two major facets of his concert-music output: "Holy Visions," on Thu 18, showcases works for a cappella women's voices and an improvisation on Alice Tully Hall's underutilized pipe organ, while "The Complete String Quartets" lives up to its name with performances by the JACK Quartet, the Alchemy Quartet and Brooklyn Rider.
