The Tempest Songbook

A coproduction of Gotham Chamber Opera and the Martha Graham Dance Company, this pastiche opera includes music for Shakespeare's The Tempest said to be written by Henry Purcell in the late 17th century, as well as the bleeding-edge contemporary sounds of Kaija Saariaho's Tempest Songbook for soprano, baritone and period-instrument ensemble (which is being heard in New York for the first time, at these performances).
