The downtown sophisticates at Spectrum present a festival dedicated to the composer-performer Michael Finnissy, who is often described as part of the "new complexity" movement (a sobriquet that means just what you think it does). Expect virtuosic, stark and occasionally violent chamber-music sounds, on all four nights. Finnissy himself plays piano alongside clarinetist Michael Norsworthy for the Mar 22 set (which will feature a world premiere). Abundantly skilled pianist Augustus Arnone performs the massive The History of Photography in Sound on Mar 23. Another world premiere is on the schedule for Mar 24, while the International Contemporary Ensemble takes the reins on Mar 25.
