Manhattan's main link to Staten Island (not to mention the true star of Working Girl) may soon be adding a new stop on its itinerary.

The Department of Transportation has confirmed that it is currently looking into adding additional ferry stops at Wall Street or the East 34th Street docks.

"In our continued effort to improve service for ferry riders, the Department of Transportation has already begun to look into the possibility of expanding ferry service to alternate destinations such as Pier 11 and East 24th Street in Manhattan," wrote DOT Commissioner Polly Trottenberg.

Trottenberg was responding to a request made by Staten Island Borough President James Oddo in April for the city to explore additional stops for the busy terminal. Needless to say, he wasn't super thrilled it took this long for them to get back to them.

The city is currently also looking for a shipyard to build three new Staten Island Ferry boats to replace some of the older ferries.
