For the next eight weeks, if you forget to bring a book on your morning commute then you’re not out of luck.
The MTA, Transit Wireless and Penguin Random House announced a partnership today to celebrate more than 175 underground subway stations in the system now having wireless connectivity. Riders who connect to the network will now have free access to five full free e-shorts and samples from 175 e-books.
“New York’s transportation network must continue adapting to the changing needs of its ridership and a key part of that is delivering the amenities that have become essential components of everyday life,” said Governor Cuomo. “Bringing Wi-Fi into underground stations helps riders stay connected throughout their commute, allowing them to check in with friends or family and access news or entertainment.”
In addition to the 175 excerpts, riders will be able to read High Heat by Lee Child, The Diamond As Big As The Ritz by F. Scott Fitzgerald, 3 Truths and A Lie by Lisa Gardner, The Murders in the Rue Morgue by Edgar Allen Poe and At the Reunion Buffet by Alexander McCall Smith.
