Donuts are like the reality TV of the food world. You don’t totally understand why they are socially acceptable, they are dessert for breakfast after all, but you don’t really care because they are just so good.
Lucky for us, today is National Donut Day, which means an entirely legit reason to trade in the morning cereal for something a little sweeter. To commemorate the occasion, here are a few shops around the city that are handing out the fried stuff gratis.
Dunkin' Donuts: Get a free donut with the purchase of any beverage.
Krispy Kreme: One free donut, no strings attached. Deals are available at participating stores in the U.S. and Canada, with the exception of Connecticut. Sorry Connecticut.
Entenmann’s: Free donut for the first 40,000 people to show up in Madison Square Park. If you can’t make it in time there is also a Facebook sweepstakes to win free donuts for a year.
Tim Hortons: Print the National Donut Day offer from their Facebook page and get a free donut.
Dun-Well Doughnuts: Head to Williamsburg for a free donut with the purchase of an espresso drink.
