Two weeks ago, a steaming hot F train stuck between the West 4th Street and Broadway-Lafayette stations for 45 minutes was every commuter's worst nightmare. And with everything from a horrendously outdated signaling system to power outages, nowadays it feels like the MTA is literally moving backward.
Cue this runaway bus in Bushwick on Tuesday night. The hulking piece of infrastructure careened backward down a street, colliding with parked cars.
Whoooa! This is the runaway MTA bus rolling down the street in Brooklyn without a driver on board! More @NBCNewYork #nbc4ny pic.twitter.com/mSPygfRdin

According to the MTA, an empty bus lost control when its driver parked and exited on Myrtle Avenue but failed to pull the parking break. The vehicle rolled down the street before coming to a halt when it hit a church on Knickerbocker Avenue. One person suffered minor injuries, and the MTA is investigating the incident. But the timing is awful—its the latest in a run of horror stories to come out of the city's transit system.
It seems the only thing to do for now is to have every New York City family send their first-born son to the Executive Mansion in Albany in hopes that such a tribute will convince Governor Andrew Cuomo to invest in a long-term solution for the city's subway system.
