Last night, Tracy Morgan took the SNL stage for the first time since he was nearly killed in a car accident in the spring of 2014. But anyone who was watching last night (or looking at Twitter) will probably agree that a different surprise made the episode truly exceptional, and totally overshadowed the Morgan reunion. Larry David returned to SNL (he was a writer there in the mid-80s) to play his political doppelgänger, Bernie Sanders—a casting choice so obvious and so perfect, it rivals Tina Fey as Sarah Palin.
