It’s no secret that dating in NYC can be super tough. Just look our Undateables column or the results of Time Out’s global dating survey (spoiler alert: we learned most New Yorkers aren’t happy to be single, and women have a harder time dating than men). But in this cold weather, how often does the dating scene prove so difficult and exhausting that New Yorkers decide to reach out to people they've dated before?
If this describes you, we want to hear from you. Would you like to go out with someone you were once romantically involved with, to find out if being reunited really might feel so good? If so, we want to send you on a date. Three lucky (bitter?) couples will get to spend one night together on our dime. These don't have to be people you've dated seriously—we're more than happy to set you up with someone you were seeing briefly or casually but are still curious about. We just ask that afterwards, you each tell us how it went. Your reactions will appear on our blog.
To submit yourself for consideration, here’s what to do: First, check in with your ex. We’d like them to agree to go on a date with you before we set you up. If, however, you’d strongly prefer that we contact them on your behalf, you can submit their contact info along with yours (though we do not encourage this). Once they’re on board, email dana.varinsky@timeout.com with your name and your ex's name. Please also include a way to contact each of you, and a very brief history of your past together. Then we’ll follow up with you to learn more.
Who knows, this may be the chance you’ve been waiting for to rekindle that romance.
