Last night, Time Out New York celebrated the end of our two-month search for the best bartender in New York in the most appropriate way possible: a cocktail party! Over 400 people packed into the Gallery at The Dream Downtown for a two-hour bash celebrating some of the top cocktail slingers in NYC.
With 193,101 votes cast in the competition as a whole, Anthony LoPorto of the Bean Post Pub in Bay Ridge walked away with this year's title. Guests at the event were able to pose with LoPorto, and sample some of his signature drinks. (Take it from us, his spicy margarita is worth the trip to Bay Ridge alone.) On top of that, seven of the top contenders were also on hand to whip up drinks for guests created from the evening’s sponsors: Monkey Shoulder Whisky, Reyka Vodka, Ancho Reyes and Schofferhofer Grapefruit.
Participating bartenders at the event included Maura McGuigan (BKB), Darnell Holguin (Bathtub Gin), Joshua Brandenburg (Forty Four at Royalton New York), Davina Thomasula (Park Bar), Moses Laboy (Gotham Bar and Grill) and Derrick Turner (Harding's) with music by DJ Tyler.
