At three Upper West Side buildings, residents are removing Donald Trump’s name from their home (instead of moving to Canada).

Back in October, hundreds of occupants of the Trump Place buildings at 140, 160 and 180 Riverside Boulevard petitioned to remove the giant gold letters emblazoned on their apartments. It was confirmed today that the change will finally be made this week, which is good news for them but just means that Midtown’s Trump Tower will get the tourist traffic instead.

The residential area has already begun swapping out welcome mats and concierge uniforms with Trump’s name on them. The buildings actually haven’t been owned by Trump in nearly a decade, so the change is appropriate no matter how you feel about the president-elect.
