The new year already brought news of Chicago's biggest chef coming to cook in New York. Now we can add one of Spain's top toques to our culinary calendar—Eneko Atxa, the triple-Michelin-starred chef behind modernist Basque restaurant Azurmendi (ranked 26th on the World's 50 Best list), will make like Grant Achatz and come to Gotham for a limited-time chef's residency, this time for a three-night run at the Mandarin Oriental on February 18th through 20th.
At the Mandarin, Atxa will serve a seven-course spread including oysters with algae and vegetable foam, pigeon with fried cauliflower and a rose meringue with strawberry ice cream. Seating is uberlimited, so snag a $185 ticket (with an additional $110 for wine pairings) to score a seat—hey, it's cheaper than a flight to Spain.
