New Yorkers have one more excuse to avoid watching football this fall

On Monday, the Westgate SuperBook in Las Vegas released its preseason betting odds for the NFL and gave the Jets 1,000-to-1 odds to win the Super Bowl, which are far and away the worst odds in the league (and possibly the worst in history). One longtime oddsmaker told ESPN that he had never seen such long odds for an NFL team before any games were played.

The Jets haven't exactly been a beacon of hope for New Yorkers over the past few years. The team hasn't made the playoffs since 2010, and after losing some of its best players this past off-season, things aren't expected to turn around any time soon. However, if you do happen to be in Vegas this week, it might be worth betting a few bucks on the Jets to win it all. After all, stranger things have happened.

The team opens its 2017 season in Buffalo against the Bills this Sunday in a game that promises to be nothing short of depressing. But hey, at least New York has the Giants entering the season with a hopeful 12-to-1 odds of winning the Super Bowl.
