This is the saddest Friends fan fiction you will ever read

Remember the Friends series finale? Monica and Chandler adopted twins and moved to the suburbs, Rachel got off the plane and reunited with Ross, and the whole crew had one last coffee together at Central Perk—all was well in the Friends universe. But though the finale aired over a decade ago, it still sticks in one superfan's craw.

Fan fiction scribe Gareth Stranks offered up his own dark, twisted, downright batshit alternative take on "The Last One," focused, naturally, on the show's resident weirdo, Phoebe. Stranks's ending places the entire show in the fever-dream imagination of one Ms. Buffay, a homeless meth addict who's been spying on Monica and Co. through the window of their favored coffeehouse for ten years.
