This interactive Vacant New York map shows all the vacant storefronts in the city, and it's as depressing as our wallets are after a shopping spree in NYC. Hey, at least now we'll save money because there's nowhere to shop! (Insert sad-face emoji here.)
The map shows the victims of soaring rent prices in NYC, and it ain't pretty. A Lower East Side space worthy of the best clothing stores costs $8,000 a month to rent, and new stores frequently go bankrupt before they even have a chance to set up shop. You can even find one single block with nine empty storefronts on the map.
Oh, and that's not all— there are also more empty apartments here than there've been in nine years. So NYC is basically a ghost town now.
