New York is a photogenic city. Every year, a countless number of photographers, videographers and novice Instagrammers work tirelessly to try and capture its beauty. A vast majority of the photos shared of the city are banal fodder—another shot from a rooftop bar layered under six filters here, another selfie at the Oculus there

But once in a while, a photo or video of New York capable of inspiring the entire world hits the internet. On Monday, such a video was published to Vimeo by Austrian production duo FilmSpektakel. The video, titled "A Taste of New York," is a three-minute hyperlapse of some of the city's most iconic locations. The video takes its viewers on a journey that twists and turns through the Manhattan skyline, over the Brooklyn Bridge, inside Grand Central Terminal, to Central Park, along the waterfront and plenty of other iconic locales in between.

The video took 10 days to shoot, during which time its producers shot approximately 65,000 photos. FilmSpektakel, which was founded by Thomas Poecksteiner and Peter Jablonowski in 2014, has made other, similar "A Taste of" videos in Austria, but this is their first try at creating one in a foreign city. Their studio also works on 360 videos, video stitching, camera arrays and other innovative formats of visual storytelling.

The gauntlet has been thrown down, New York. Here's to less crummy Instagram images and more compelling footage that actually challenges people to take a unique look at the city.

See below for some behind-the-scenes photos from FilmSpektakel's time in NYC.
