Not everything is doom and gloom in rapidly decaying Penn Station these days. Sure, commuters may have to deal with unexpected “water features” and constant, massive delays, but at least they have a new bar to escape the upcoming “summer of agony.”

Spiritual home of spinach in a cup and chia yogurt, Pret A Manger, officially opens its largest location in the country today inside the subterranean transit hub. Not only will the new location offer the standard fare of sandwiches, salads and coffee, but the 5,968 square-foot space will also contain the country’s first-ever Pret Bar. Hope you like to drunk eat tuna half-sandwiches!

“We are always looking for new ways to better serve our customers. Our baristas make thousands of coffees every day for our customers, so we thought, why not offer beer and wine too?  This space in Penn Station was the perfect opportunity to do so – it is our largest US shop, and third in Penn Station.  Our Penn Station customers have shown us that they love our food on the go, and we’re confident a beer pairs pretty well with a mac & cheese or a Buffalo Chicken Hot Wrap too” says Jo Brett, Pret US President.

The new Pret Bar has seating for 12 and will serve a variety of wine, beer and kombucha on tap. The wine list will offer a selection of wines from California, New Zealand and Italy and will change seasonally. Beers will be bottled and draft, domestics and imports.
