Move over High Line, there's a new elevated park in town. The one-acre Liberty Park is set to open next week.
The park sits 25 feet above the 9/11 Memorial and has 50 trees and plenty of greenery, DNAinfo reports. Along the park's base will run a 300-foot-long "Living Wall." The exact opening date will be announced later this week, a Port Authority spokesperson said.
Construction will continue on the spot, eventually monumenting the St. Nicholas Shrine, a reincarnation of the Greek Orthodox Church that was destroyed on September 11, expected in 2018.
Just another way to enjoy the best NYC parks as summer shines bright!
