In recent years, New York has had a tragic history of dismantling large, beloved cubes and then providing little information as to when they might come back. Thankfully, the Astor Place Cube is now once again spinning at its rightful place on 8th Street, and today, we have finally been blessed with news about the Apple Cube’s return to its once and future home on Fifth Avenue.
Oh, you thought today’s big Apple announcement was about some new phone? Please.
In the cold dark days of last May, the Apple Cube was spirited away from its position across the street from the Plaza so the tech giant could renovate its flagship basement store. (It looks like they decided to poke a bunch of holes in the ceiling.)

At today’s #iPhoneX event, Gothamist reports that Apple Senior Vice President of Retail Angela Ahrendts officially announced that the cube will be returning late next year, when the store reopens.
Just think, in one year’s time you could be descending that glass staircase once again for your Genius Bar appointment. A Genius Bar appointment now with 100% more natural lighting.
