When you live in the most expensive city in America it can be hard to stick to a budget. Luckily, we’ve got you covered. Whether you’re looking for a concert, art exhibit, comedy show or even a date idea, there are plenty of places to good time without paying a dime. Here are the best free parties, cultural events and things to do between now and next Wednesday.

The Sound of Music Sing-Along
The hills are alive! Return to 1938 Austria and belt out tunes such as “Edelweiss,” “My Favorite Things” and “Do-Re-Mi” with Julie Andrews and the Von Trapps during this sing-along viewing at Hudson Yards Park. If twirling around and reciting word-for-word lyrics leaves you famished, you can grab some yummy treats from nearby food trucks. Hudson Park, 544 W 35th St. Wed 6 8:30–10pm; free.

Multisensory Music Hackathon
If you’re known to drum with your fingers at your desk or tinker with some beats on your laptop, then take your creative game to the next level at this daylong summit, where you can engineer and record original music using state-of-the-art motion and light sensors. After learning how to build sounds with light and motion, you present your creation at a demo concert at the end of the night. Welcome to the future of music. Spotify NYC, 45 W 18th St, Seventh floor (monthlymusichackaton.org). Sat 9 noon–10pm. Free with R.S.V.P.

World’s Fair History Tour
Visit the site of the 1964 Queens World’s Fair, which has endured as a cult fascination for more than 50 years. Docents discuss the glorious promise and heartbreaking downfall of the fair while showing you magnificent sites like the Unisphere, Hall of Science, carousel and New York State Pavilion (a.k.a. the UFO towers from Men in Black). You can also see the revitalized parks that have sprung from the Fair relics, including Queens Zoo and Museum. Unisphere at Flushing Meadows–Corona Park, Queens (718-760-6565, nycgovparks.org). Sun 10 11am–2pm.

Ghostbusters Trivia
Before this year’s badass new Ghostbusters show up to save NYC, refresh your memory of the originals at this fan celebration. Compete in five rounds of comprehensive trivia that cover everything from human sacrifices to big marshmallow monsters. Fittingly, trivia teams have a four-person maximum, so make sure you and your fellow ghost-trappin’ fiends can tell the difference between Slimer and Gozer. Videology, 308 Bedford Ave, Brooklyn (718-782-3468, videologybarandcinema.com). Sun 10 at 8pm; free.

LOL Films: Clueless
As part of its screening series of iconic female comedies that includes Pretty in Pink and When Harry Met Sally, Loft Fashion is showing the definitive teen movie of the ’90s. Before Cher, Dionne and Tai embark on their social comedy of errors at 9pm, you can dance by the river and catch some live comedy acts starting at 8pm. Wear your finest Alaïa. Solar One, 24-20 FDR Dr (212-505-6050, solar1.org). Tue 12 at 7:45pm; free.
