The Sound of Music Sing-Along
The hills are alive! Return to 1938 Austria and belt out tunes such as “Edelweiss,” “My Favorite Things” and “Do-Re-Mi” with Julie Andrews and the Von Trapps during this sing-along viewing at Hudson Yards Park. Multisensory Music Hackathon
If you’re known to drum with your fingers at your desk or tinker with some beats on your laptop, then take your creative game to the next level at this daylong summit, where you can engineer and record original music using state-of-the-art motion and light sensors. After learning how to build sounds with light and motion, you present your creation at a demo concert at the end of the night. Welcome to the future of music. World’s Fair History Tour
Visit the site of the 1964 Queens World’s Fair, which has endured as a cult fascination for more than 50 years. Docents discuss the glorious promise and heartbreaking downfall of the fair while showing you magnificent sites like the Unisphere, Hall of Science, carousel and New York State Pavilion (a.k.a. the UFO towers from Men in Black). Ghostbusters Trivia
Before this year’s badass new Ghostbusters show up to save NYC, refresh your memory of the originals at this fan celebration. Compete in five rounds of comprehensive trivia that cover everything from human sacrifices to big marshmallow monsters. Fittingly, trivia teams have a four-person maximum, so make sure you and your fellow ghost-trappin’ fiends can tell the difference between Slimer and Gozer.
