Of all the New York annoyances, taking a weekly (okay, monthly) trip to the Laundromat is one of the most irksome experiences. It’s a dirty, time-consuming job, but luckily, these quick—and affordable—NYC laundry apps are up for the challenge.
This on-demand mobile app offers a premium laundry service in NYC while you sleep.
The team behind the year-old app will pick up your unwashed duds at 10pm and have you clothes delivered, cleaned and folded by 6am the next day. They also provide hand-launder when needed, stain removal, your very own luxe garment bag and best of all? The prices won’t murder your bank account.
The cost of a small ($10), medium ($20) or large load ($30) is cheaper than its competitors, but the only downside is the service is invite-only. Anyone can request an invitation, but you’re more likely to join the party if you live in Manhattan and have a 24-hour doorman. Otherwise, your laundry would be waiting—curbside—in front of your apartment door at 2am.
The sheer size of your hamper, stuffed to the brim with dirty garb, can be pretty intimidating. But once you shrink it down to the size of your smartphone, it’s not so bad, right?
The Cleanly app offers three options: Wash & Fold, Wash & Press or Dry Clean. The prices aren’t bad—a regular load of laundry costs $1.50 per pound and dry-clean-only items (blouses are $7, sweaters cost $8, suit jackets are $10 and coats are $20 each) are marked within reason. The nice thing about Cleanly is that you can set up your pick-up time. Within 24-hours (36-hours for dry cleaning) your clothes will be returned and smell just like your mamma did it.
The team is at your service seven days a week from 7am–10pm and every new customer receives a personalized laundry bag. You can only request the service in Manhattan—but the company plans to expand in the near future.
Here’s another convenient and cheap way to do your dry cleaning and laundry—but this app works in Brooklyn! Much like Cleanly, you can choose a regular wash-and-fold or choose specific items for dry cleaning. But you can request immediate pickup (like an Uber) or schedule a pick-up time between 6am and midnight, seven days a week.
You’ll receive a notification when it’s ready to be delivered (it can be delivered immediately or you can choose a time that’s more convenient), and the app allows you to estimate how much your order will cost (laundry per pound is $1.15 in Brooklyn and $1.25 in Manhattan).
