Port Authority isn’t just showering cash on glorified PATH stations that look like half-finished Damien Hirst sculptures.

This year, the average salary for Port Authority workers increased from $97,673 to $100,253 according to the New York Post, sailing past the six-figure mark faster than most people walk through the Port Authority Bus Terminal

A large part of the salary increase was due to the high levels of overtime accrued by the agency’s police officers. In fact, one in 10 Port Authority cops (170 out of 1,649) made more than $200,000 last year.

Port Authority responded in a statement saying: “Moving forward, the agency is undertaking several additional initiatives including the hiring of 250 more police officers, assessing department workloads and existing staffing levels and looking at scheduling of existing staff, all with the focus on continuing to reduce overtime in the coming years.”

It’s a lot harder to find husky men than it used to be!
