Today, the once and future Astor Place Cube is finally—after multiple delays—being re-installed in its rightful home across from Cooper Union.
Formally known as The Alamo, the popular work of public art by Tony Rosenthal was removed from the square all the way back in 2014 as the area underwent extensive renovations. After it failed to materialize by its announced return date in August, developers remained mum on when the cube would be reinstalled. Now that day finally appears to have arrived.
And may we just say… cube is looking gooooood.
