Wouldn’t it be nice to take a break from Seamless and use your kitchen for cooking rather than extra shoe storage? (Oh, you don’t that?) There’s an amazing and unique home retail store in Soho—Pirch (200 Lafayette St)—which not only sells fancy-pants appliances, but offers complimentary cooking classes taught by world-renowned chefs. Sounds like one of our brilliant cheap dates ideas, doesn't it?
Classes are held in the store’s high-end cooking space called “Savor” every weekend. The menus are ever-changing, but you can expect courses such as “Sourcing Saturday,” where a member of Pirch’s culinary team gathers fresh produce and meats from various farmer’s markets in New York, and then designs a menu around those ingredients. And you get to eat what you make—for free!
All you have to do to attend is register for a class in advance. However, it looks like classes for the next three weekends are booked solid. (We know, major buzzkill). Make sure to check Pirch’s website regularly or sign up for their email list to find out when new classes are available.
