So long as you're not caught in a frustrating wait for a Genius Bar employee to remove the pocket lint jammed in your charging port, a visit to an Apple Store can be a wonderful experience. Patrons can play with all sorts of expensive machines and gadgets that they could only dream of buying, and revel in the glory that is modern technology.
Apple products have unlocked entire new worlds of creativity for artists over the last decade. Whether it's capturing beautiful photos on a phone, sketching on an iPad or running powerful editing software on a desktop, innovation in tech is driving innovation in the arts.
Apple or otherwise, there's a lot to take advantage of when it comes to your devices, but making the most out of them can be a bit mind-boggling. This weekend, the tech giant is launching an initiative called Today at Apple in which creative gurus offer free classes at Apple Store locations around the world. Each of the stores in New York are participating with a full lineup of classes on Saturday, ranging in topic from sketching on an iPad to editing and mixing music on a Mac. You can look forward to a pair of great free shows at the Soho and Williamsburg outposts, which will cap the day off with free performances from Christopher Matin and Estelle.
You can see the full schedule of events here, and check out the video below for Apple's faux-inspiring promotion of the series.
