NYC is the best at many things, but preserving history definitely isn’t one of them.
If you’ve ever wanted to take a stroll through turn of the century New York, then this new interactive map created by developer Dan Vanderkam is probably as close as you’ll ever get.
Vanderkam used over 80,000 old photo from the Photographic Views of New York City, 1870s-1970s collection at the New York Public Library to create the map. The cumulative effect is a pretty fascinating trip back through time.
