We all have guilty pleasures. More often than not, some sort of sinfully delicious, less-than-healthy treat makes the top of the list. It probably has gluten and refined sugar, and is completely awesome. I have never met a doughnut I didn't like, and long ago decided that the beach is going to get whatever body I give it.
If you're anything like me, you're in luck. Krispy Kreme's Original Glazed is turning 80. In celebration of the momentous occasion, the doughnut chain will be opening a pop-up store in Times Square this Thursday, with none other than Shaquille O'Neal serving up the tasty treats for free.
Before you go thinking: stars, they're just like us, it's worth noting that Shaq is no ordinary fan. The former NBA all-star actually owns his own Krispy Kreme store in Atlanta and is a self-proclaimed member of the Krispy Kreme family—a union which has led to this photo of Shaq in a Krispy Kreme paper hat, and the genesis of the hashtag #shaqalicious.

On Thursday morning from 11am to 12:30pm, Shaq will be at the Krispy Kreme pop-up shop at Times Square Plaza (across from the Good Morning America Studio). He'll also host a "special birthday moment" involving a box of 80 glazed doughnuts at 11:30am, and if it has anything to do with eating the entire box, I will be the first to volunteer.
All of this high-carbohydrate insanity is just the precursor to Krispy Kreme's national birthday celebration on Friday. So if you can't—or don't want to—go to Times Square, don't fret. You'll get a dozen Original Glazed for just 80 cents when you purchase any other dozen at any Krispy Kreme on July 14. Isn't it high time we abandon the idea of a "summer body" and submit to the siren call of baked goods?
