Getting fed up with your subway commute? Hang tight, because things are going to improve—in 2020. Grand Central Station is officially getting a makeover, thanks to One Vanderbilt, the 1,401-foot tower in construction that is set to be Grand Central's new neighbor. AM New York reports that the skyscraper will feature a new tunnel entrance directly into Grand Central, along with two new subway entrances and more mezzanine space, which are estimated to free up 40% more commuter space. 4,5,6 subway passengers will get to enjoy an easier ride, with new stairways and more trains coming through. The revamped concourse will also connect to the LIRR.

$220 million of these improvements will be paid for by SL Green, the developers of the One Vanderbilt commercial building, in exchange for exclusive air rights.

Now, how long will it take for Penn Station to get a makeover?
