Everyone loves to wax nostalgic over Old New York, but what was it actually like? A new video from the New Yorker takes you through the city in the 1930s with side-by-side video taken then and now. You can see shots over the bridges, through Central Park, outside museums like the Met and, of course, in the heart of Times Square.
The videos (set to lively jazz) are pretty cool to see. Did you know horse and buggies used to cross the bridges along with cars? Check out those trolleys in the streets. And look at all those old-fashioned clothes! Mostly, it looks less crowded (sounds nice)! But there were still jaywalkers back in the '30s, and that's what's important.
