Give me your tired, your poor, your aquatic mammals.

Yesterday morning, what appeared to be a humpback whale was spotted near Liberty Island in NYC. He’s already been named Fudgey. The U.S. Coast Guard confirmed the sighting, issuing a warning advising boaters to proceed with caution. He’s reportedly a “large” whale, which is rude but also what we’ll look like after Thanksgiving next week.

Whale sightings are becoming increasingly common in NYC—there were 69 seen in 2015 alone—and don't forget about all those sharks spotted at the Jersey shore.  So now you can add whale watching to the list of best things to do near the Statue of Liberty
