Designer Ralph Lauren set an equestrian landscape at his first New York restaurant, The Polo Bar, which opens tonight. His house of prep sits right next to the flagship store and looks just you would imagine, decked out in oak-wood paneling, saddle-leather club chairs, plaid pillows and intricate horse portrait paintings. (Pro tip: If you need a drinking game while there, see who can count the most horses in the space.) The focus of the menu is all-American fare, like steaks and burgers sourced from Colorado ranches. Take a closer look at the posh dining room and bar, both awash in a cognac glow, below. And be sure to pop your collar before heading inside. 1 E 55th St between Fifth and Madison Aves (212-207-8562, polobarralphlauren.com)
