If you live in Queens and you’re coming home from Midtown after 10:30 on a weeknight, you may want to take the train this winter.
Starting tonight, the entire Queens-bound side of the Midtown Tunnel will be closed between the hours of 10:30pm and 5:30am Monday through Thursday, and between 11pm Friday and 8am Saturday. For 12 weeks. Cars entering and leaving Manhattan during those times will be restricted to a single lane each in the Manhattan-Bound tube.
A spokesperson for the MTA warned that there could possibly be delays as a result of the closures, which are being put into effect for Hurricane Sandy-related restoration work. Considering the Midtown tunnel is usually as backed up as everyone currently on day five of their juice cleanse, we’re guessing those delays will be pretty significant.
